7 Die As High Tension Wire Falls On A Truck In Medak
At least Seven people were electrocuted and several others injured when high-tension power lines fell on a group of people travelling in a truck near Narayankhed circle of Medak district late Sunday evening.
The group was returning from a wedding at Deviliwada Thanda in Narayankhed taluka to Nandiwada in Nizamabad district.
Medak SP B Sumathi, who was rushing to the spot, said that at least 15 had received serious burn injuries. “They were initially shifted to a hospital in Narayankhed. Doctors said their condition was serious, so we rushed them to Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad,” he added.
“One minute, the relatives and friends of the newly married couple were singing songs and dancing in the back of the truck and the next minute there were horrific screams as high-tension wires fell on the truck near Narayankhed junction.
The incident occurred around 8 pm,’’ Assistant Sub-Inspector Narayan Reddy of Kangti police station said quoting witnesses on the highway.
The injured were shifted to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) and Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad. The condition of three of them is stated to be critical.
Police said the live wire fell on those sitting on the rear side of the truck. The marriage party was coming back from Kamareddy town in Nizamabad.
