CM K Chandrasekhar Rao announced that AIIMS to come up at Bibinagar Campus of NIMS in Nalgonda district is presently situated.
The Bibinagar NIMS has been lying unattended for several years and Chief Minister’s visit thus assumed significance. He held a review meeting with the officials and said that Bibinagar will be turned into a Health city and Smart city in the days to come.
It may be recalled that the central government allocated the prestigious AIIMS to Telangana State as per Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.
The Government was entrusted with the responsibility of finding suitable and adequate land for the project. The chosen site on the Warangal highway has very good road and rail connectivity apart from being very close to the capital city of Hyderabad, he said.
The Outer Ring Road, Secunderabad-Khazipet rail line are just a few kilometres from the Bibinagar NIMS.
The government has identified 400 acres of land and was in the process of acquiring more. The national level hospital with top grade standards will get a medical college, nursing institute and others, KCR added.
The place geographically well-placed and is within the proximity to most of the Telangana districts, he stated.
Once the project gets materialised, it will have a cascading effect and Townships, Industries, Educational, Business and Entertainment facilities will come up at the place, he opined.
While reviewing the availability of land at Bibinagar and Kondamadugu, Rao said 400 acres was available but felt there was a need to acquire more land.
“As NIMS-Bibinagar is closer to Hyderabad and the Outer Ring Road and is also located on the Hyderabad-Warangal highway, the under-construction hospital is suitable for setting up AIIMS,” Rao reasoned and said the facility will be helpful for people of all the districts in Telangana.
