The Telangana State Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari on Friday announced that the regular vice chancellors to all the Telangana Universities would be appointed within four months.

Speaking to the media at Secretariat here, Kadiyam Srihari said that in the wake of formation new State of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh Universities Act needs to be amended.
“In next four months, all the universities will get regular vice-chancellors and executive councils will also be constituted,” he added.

The Minister blamed the earlier governments over the state of affairs in the state universities. “Due to lackadaisical approach of earlier governments, there wasn’t recruitment in the universities which is now taking a toll on their status.
The ratio of professors, assistant professors and associate professors should be maintained. There is chance of losing National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) grade due to lack of faculty,” he said.
Kadiyam further said that several new government degree and polytechnic colleges were approved by earlier governments but they do not have buildings, infrastructure and staff till date. “Now the government is filling the lacunae,” he added.
The Deputy Chief Minister also announced that sanctioned posts would be filled up after regularisation of services of contract employees as per the rules.
