Bharat Domain names For Indian Languages
From August 27, Indian language domain names will make their debut with the extension .Bharat which will be in Devanagari script.
At the World Domain Day 2014 meeting in Hyderabad, Govind, CEO, NIXI (National Internet Exchange of India) and Chairman of .IN registry said that the step is part of an effort to make internet multi-lingual and not limited to English.
For now, domain names ending with .Bharat in Devanagri script cover Indian languages like Boro, Hindi, Dogri, Konkani, Maithalai, Marathi, Nepali and Sindhi.
In the next phase, domain names in other languages would be included, for Bengali, Telugu, Gujarati, Urdu, Tamil and Punjabi.
