The Cyberabad police on Friday launched a dedicated WhatsApp number through which citizens can send pictures, videos and audio file recordings of unlawful activities taking place in their respective areas.
Cyberabad police commissioner C V Anand formally launched the mobile messaging service WhatsApp as part of the citizen-police connect program.
During the event, the commissioner said that all sub-inspectors and above rank officers would be connected to the service and citizens can suggest, report, complain and update the police by sending messages, audio, video clippings, images relating to crime, women harassment, eve teasing, traffic, law and order and any other illegal activities.

“The intention of having WhatsApp service is to enable police to immediately transmit messages, photos, videos of any scene of crime, incident, suspect, a criminal who is on the run after committing a crime, an arrested person, information about any snatching or robbery,” he said.
The commissioner said that the messages would be transmitted to all the groups.
Traffic offences, violations, traffic jams or any suggestions on improving traffic flow can be reported.
