Engineering students should take up research on priority


Stating that engineers constitute an important skilled group of human resource, Finance Minister Etela Rajendar asked students to use engineering for the welfare of the society. Addressing students of MVSR Engineering College at their graduation ceremony on Sunday, he said the technology developed by engineers that in turn could be used for good or bad purposes. “Young engineers play an important role in constituting this skilled group of human resource.

They must improve their skills and take up research on a priority. It is the costliest asset for any nation to have qualitative human resources to develop the country,” he said. Guest of honor at the event, Metro India chairman C L Rajam said that engineering was the back-bone of any country’s survival and recalled his days as an engineer.

He said though many students were passing out of colleges every year, employability of those students was very low. He advised both college managements and students to bridge the gap between graduated and employable students. Stating that graduating from an engineering college was only basic learning, he advised students to nurture their talent and rely on their strengths.

He also said that students graduating in engineering profession may choose other related professions. “Consider graduation in engineering as a basic foundation course for you to grow”, he said. Metro Rail Managing Director N V S Reddy advised students to update their knowledge constantly and said graduation was just a beginning.

Presenting an example of South Korea, he said almost every gadget in the world uses now is manufactured in such a tiny country. The college management felicitated toppers in graduation and dignitaries conferred them with degrees.
