Praja Gayakudu Gaddar asked to all Telangana People’s participation is of utmost importance to achieve the goals of Mission Kakatiya, the Telangana government’s flagship programme to revive all the tanks in the state.
Gaddar, on the first day of his two-day programme in Toopran mandal , Medak district on Monday, visited Kallakal, Kucharam, Jeedipalli, Manoharabad, Ramaipalli, Imampur, Lingareddipeta and Ravelli villages along with folk artistes.
First, he performed rituals in the waters at Bathukamma temple and then in the lakes on the outskirts of the villages. He took oath along with the villagers that everyone will participate in protecting their ponds and lakes. He asked the people to get back the occupied lakes and other water bodies.
He said that parched areas would turn green if the works of Mission Kakatiya are completed. He regaled students and those present with his songs.
If the 46,000 tanks in Telangana are restored, then 265 TMC water can be put to irrigate 1.2 crore acres of land, according to Sridhar Deshpande, OSD, Irrigation Department, who was also present.
