The reason behind the construction of educational hubs was to bring all the government educational institutions at Assembly Constituency headquarters to one campus and to provide best infrastructural facilities.
Separate campuses are being built for girls and boys on adjacent lands. Chief Minister has granted Rs 146 crore for the project, in which a major share is being spent on the buildings and rest will be used to provide basic infrastructural facilities. The girls education hub is coming up on a 20 acre space at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV). Besides KGBV, the campus will have five other institutions, high school, model school, junior college, degree college and polytechnic college exclusively for girls.
There will be separate hostels for model school, junior college and degree college students. An auditorium, principal quarters and others are under construction. Separate quarters are being constructed for teaching and non-teaching staff. Similarly, the boy’s campus is being constructed at existing Polytechnic College campus. It will have four institutions from school to degree college in addition to hostels and staff quarters.
Assistant Engineer K Ramachandar told ‘Telangana Today’ that the works were going at brisk pace with an aim to complete all works by June 1 to enable the government to use the campus after summer vacation.
DEC Infrastructures and Projects limited representatives said that they had deployed a large number of skilled and unskilled workers to complete the works on priority basis as Chief Minister was particular to start the functioning of all institutions from the educational hub from June. As the construction of model school building has already completed, the classes are being conducted at the education hub.
Since there is enough space on the campus, the government can also accommodate other institutions if they grant any new institutions in the future. The Chief Minister aims to construct educational hubs across the State in a phased manner.
