The GHMC is making arrangements launching of “Swachh Telangana Swachh Hyderabad“ programme on May 16th 2015, to lift around 11,000 tonnes of garbage and debris in GHMC limits during the five-day programme.

GHMC lifts 3,400 tonnes of garbage on daily basis but in view of the “Swachh Telangana Swachh Hyderabad“ programme, an additional amount of 4,000 tonnes of garbage and 4,000 tonnes of debris totaling to 11,000 tonnes of waste material, will be lifted during the programme from May 16 to 20.
A total of 55,000 tonnes of waste materials would be lifted by the GHMC during those five days and arrangements are being made for providing sufficient men and machinery to take up the task, GHMC Special Officer, Somesh Kumar said.
In addition to the existing fleet of vehicles, 400 mini vehicles and 500 big vehicles which can lift up to 6 metric tonnes of waste and 70 heavy trucks with lifting capacity of 20 metric tonnes waste will be deployed.
Apart from this, the GHMC is planning to coordinate with HMR, L&T and other major corporations to procure heavy vehicles for lifting the waste.
Somesh Kumar said that 3,000 officials and public representatives are being trained for this purpose. Training will be imparted at Kukatpally JNTU and other organisations.
