in view of Godavari Pushkaralu Government of Telangana has given Holidays For Godavari Pushkaralu, for Adilabad,Nizamabad,Karimnagar,Warangal,Khammam Districts
Telangana Government has declared Godavari Pushkaralu holidays for the schools starting from July 13 to 25. The government issued orders on Thursday to this effect.
Certain schools selected by the district administration in five districts namely Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam will remain closed.
The government directed the school managements to cover up these holidays by operating on second Saturdays till April 2016 and also on four optional holidays.Godavari Pushkaralu Holidays in Telangana
About Godavari Pushkaralu
Godavari Pushkaram, spelled Pushkaralu in Telugu, Paushkaram in Tamil, Pushkara in Kannada, and Pushkar in Hindi is a Hindu festival of the Godavari River which normally occurs once in 12 years but during 2015 it is being celebrated as “Maha Pushkaram”, as such an event occurs once in 144 years. “It is called Maha Pushkaram as it is the 12th time the 12 year Pushkaram cycle is being held starting with Ashadha (June/July) month on Chaturdashi day (thithi) (14th day).” The next Maha Pushkaram will be held in 2159.
This festival will be observed for a period of 12 days from the time of entry of Jupiter into Leo zodiac sign; the planet remains in that sign for 12 months, but the first 12 days are considered most sacred, though it is observed throughout the year.
The first 12 days of the Godavari Pushkaram is known as “Aadhi Pushkaram” and the last 12 days is titled “Anthya Pushkaram”.
