The historic Golconda Fort is geared up to host 68th Independence Day celebrations and first such event in the newly-formed Telangana State. Various government departments left no stone unturned to spruce up the fort and its surrounding areas for this prestigious occasion. GHMC, Hyderabad Collectorate and police department worked overtime to get the fort ready for the D-day. All roads leading to the fort received a fresh coat of bitumen and potholes were repaired on war footing. Also footpaths and dividers were painted afresh. Golconda and its surrounding areas are glowing with streetlights.
Barricades and visible signage have been erected on approach roads for the convenience of public attending the programme. Inside the fort, large scale seating arrangements, makeshift toilets and ample parking facilities have been provided. Besides LED screens were also fitted temporarily at various places, so that audience would have a clear view of the celebration.
Meanwhile, Golconda fort and prominent government buildings have been illuminated with LED decorative lights of different colours in the night presenting a pleasing picture to onlookers. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will unfurl the national flag at 9.30 am at Rani Mahal compound.
Ministers to unfurl tricolour in districts
On the other hand, all his Cabinet colleagues will be participating in Independence Day celebrations in their respective districts. Jogu Ramanna in Adilabad, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy in Nizamabad, Harish Rao in Medak, G Jagdish Reddy in Nalgonda, Dr T Rajaiah in Warangal, Etela Rajender in Karimnagar and P Mahender Reddy in Ranga Reddy district would oversee the fete.
