GWMC Polls 2016 Nominations Filing begins Today, Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed said over six lakh voters would be electing their corporators to 58 divisions of the corporation on March 6 2016.

Speaking to presspersons here on Sunday, he said the process of conducting elections would begin on Monday with the issue of notification and filing of nominations from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The nominations would be accepted at the municipal office for all wards from February 22 to 24. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is February 26. List of contesting candidates would be published on the same day.
After the polling on March 6, the counting of votes would be taken up on March 9, leaving two days gap in the event of repolling if needed, he explained.
The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation is spread over 407 square kilometre. A total of 653 polling stations would be set up for voting.
The deposit amount for general candidates is Rs. 5,000, while it is Rs. 2,500 for SC, ST and BC candidates.
The Election Code of Conduct would be applicable within the jurisdiction of the municipal corporation.
Earlier, the State government finalised the reservation for the 58 wards under the GWMC. While the BCs were allotted 19 seats, the SCs were given nine, STs were given two, women were given 13, and another 13 were left unreserved. Mayoral post is open to the general category.
