Deciding on the timeline for the project completion, and inspection of the quality of the works as the agenda of the visit, Mr. Harish Rao said there is no deviation from the deadline, that is December this year.
Any delay caused by the agencies would lead to their blacklisting he said, setting a strict tone. “I have instructed the Collector to review the land (acquisition) situation every Saturday and the project status reported to me every fortnight,” he told the media.
The project that was started in 2007 and later shelved by the previous governments has taken pace under the TRS government, he said, adding that about 40, 000 acre of ayacut, of the total one lakh acre target, will be ready for irrigation in the first phase.
USLIS aims at supplying drinking and irrigation facilities to the drought and fluoride-affected constituencies of Munugode, Nakrekal and Nalgonda in the district by lifting 6.70 TMC from the Udaya Samudram balancing reservoir to the Brahmana Vellamla balancing reservoir.
Presently, the 6.9 km approach canal work has been completed and the tunnel works which are in the final stage would be completed by December.
A 220 KV electrical sub-station and pump house would be ready to function by the end of October, and construction of the electric towers are being taken up on a war-footing basis, Minister for Energy G. Jagadish Reddy who was also present informed.
On land acquisition, which has been the hurdle for the project for long, Mr. Harish Rao said the Advocate General was requested to expedite the solution.
“The pendency once cleared would allow irrigation in the total 50, 000 acre ayacut, which currently stands at about 37, 000 acre through the L.L.C,” he noted.
