Hyderabad To Host The 11th Metropolis World Conference 2014, from October 7 to 10 with the theme “’Cities for All”, will be a platform to discuss and exchange ideas on various urban issues across different cities in the world, said Metropolis secretary general Alain Le Saux on Tuesday.
He expressed satisfaction over the arrangements being put in place for the event conducted by the Metropolis based in Barcelona, Spain.
Mr Le Saux, along with Agnes Bickart, Metropolis manager, met Telangana state Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday and congratulated him for taking the initiative to organize the conference. The Metropolis executives termed their trip preparatory for the October meet.
The 3 day event would see participation of 73 international speakers in several sessions. Delegates representing 136 member cities from across the globe, from as diverse as Seoul, Sydney and Tehran, would turn up to exchange ideas and experiences. From within India, 150 cities are expected to be represented.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Special Commissioner, Babu Ahmed, said that so far 566 delegates’ registrations were received, of which 162 were from 33 foreign countries.
