Hyderabad metro rail new routes okayed
The Hyderabad metro rail new routes okayed, the route on the Assembly side will be changed with the Metro diverting after the Lakdikapul station towards Police Officers’ Store, the DGP (AP) office, police quarters along the railway track and on to the open space near Telugu University gate.
The second diversion, for Sultan Bazaar, will take place from Badi Chowdi where the Metro will turn left towards Tilak Road and behind Koti Women’s College.
There will also be a change of route at Nampally as the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen floor leader, Akbaruddin Owaisi had argued that it was necessary to save many religious structures.
The proposed re-alignment at Nampally will follow the Musi river, Bahadurpura, Kala-pathar to Falaknuma. The original alignment as per the plan was Darulshifa, Mir-Alam Mandi, Etebar Chowk, Moghalpura and other densely populated areas.
This realignment at Nampally had been proposed as the present route would have affected seven temples, 28 mosques and 1,000 houses. A senior L&T officer said, “We have to receive the letter from the government.
The changed route will be studied, its technical feasibility will be evaluated and accordingly our inputs will be put before the government. Till this exercise is carried out, we are not in a position to comment.”
While the changed routes have been chalked out, there is no word on the amount of compensation to be paid to L&T. Another senior officer said, “The compensation will have to be worked out keeping in mind the already constructed pillars. The fate of those pillars will have to be decided by the government.”
