Inavolu Mallanna Jatara 2016, Inavolu Mallikarjuna Swamy Jatara: Telangana state biggest religious fairs, the Inavolu Mallikarjuna Swamy Jatara, starts from 13th January 2016 in Inavolu village in Wardhannapet mandal, Warangal District.

Located 20 km from Warangal city, the Inavolu Mallikarjuna swamy temple is dated to the Kakatiyan period and is considered older than Ramappa temple.
A stone inscription found here says a Kakatiyan dynasty official named Ayanadeva completed its construction in the year 1040 A.D. The trademark Kakatiya thoranam (arch) finds its origin at Inavolu temple, where three massive thoranams with one still standing high can be seen here.
Presently, two thoranams remain fallen on the ground at Involu temple premises and are in a bad state due to poor maintenance.
Traditionally, the temple fair always begins on the eve of Bhogi, a day before Sankranti and thronged by mostly farmers from nearby villages like Ontimamidipally, Singaram, Udalhagudem, Lingamarigudem, Ponnulu with their decorated bullock carts.
The jatara will go on till March 21 and its highlight would be the celestial wedding of the presiding deity Mallikarjuna Swamy, an incarnation of Lord Siva, with his consorts Golla Kethamma and Balija Medalamma.
The temple is mainly patronised by the Yadava, Golla, Kuruma and Balija communities and devotees turn up in large numbers from different parts of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
The temple was believed to have been built by Ayyanna Devudu, a minister from the Kakatiya-era. The devotees use bandari (turmeric) as the main offering to the deity. They also carry earthen pots with newly-harvested rice cooked with milk and jaggery.
Some even make animal sacrifices. The tiny village comes to life with thousands of devotees raising temporary tents all around the temple for a day or two before offering their prayers. The temple and its surroundings were lit up for the occasion.
