The late Prof Jayashankar’s soul will rest in peace as Telangana State is progressing on a development path for the last one year, according to Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He said the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government would draw inspiration from his life and philosophy and offer a people-centric administration.
Rao was speaking at the fourth death anniversary function of Prof Jayashankar, held at Telangana Bhavan here on Sunday. He paid floral tributes to the statue of Jayashankar and recalled his yeomen services. Rao said that Jayashankar was solely responsible for the spread of statehood slogan to every nook and corner of the region.
He clearly explained the exploitation being meted out to the region in the unified State and also highlighted advantages of demerger. Telangana community would remember his services forever, Rao said. Meanwhile, Telangana JAC urged the government to set up a memorial and statue of Jayashanker in Hyderabad. At a programme held at the JAC office in Adarshnagar, its chairman Prof Kodandaram and other JAC members paid tributes to the ideologue.
Speaking on the occasion, Kodandaram said that Jayashankar ‘sir’ was the torchbearer of the Telangana movement. When asked how the TRS government has been functioning in the last one year, he felt it was okay so far. JAC was not into politics, but it would strive for realisation of Bangaru Telangana goal, he said.
New dist to be named after Prof Jayashankar
IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Sunday said a new district would be carved out of the existing Warangal district and it would be named after Telangana Ideologue Prof Jayashankar. Paying rich tributes to Prof Jayashankar at Telangana Bhavan here, the Minister asserted that the TRS government had already named the Agriculture University after him.
And in the near future, the new district would be named after Prof Jayashankar by the government. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had already taken a decision in this regard, Rama Rao said.
The Minister said Jayashankar strived hard for spreading the movement and taught us much on the need for statehood. Rama Rao also expressed concern that Jayashankar passed away before achieving the statehood. Every time we remembered Jayashankar for his persistent efforts for the State, he remarked.
