The Telangana state government has sanctioned 390 laptops, costing Rs 1.48 crore, to the field staff of Mission Bhagiratha. Panchayat raj and rural development special chief secretary SP Singh issued orders to this effect on Saturday.
The government will purchase 390 laptops, each costing Rs 38,000, for allotment to all the field staff and higher officials working for the Telangana Drinking Water Supply Project (TDWSP). The total cost of the 390 laptops will be Rs 1,48,20,000 excluding taxes.
Each laptop will have core i3 (5th generation) processor, 4GB Ram, 1TB hard disk, 2GB graphic card, Windows operating system, 15.6-inch display screen, DVD writer, mouse and accessories. The total weight of the laptop will be around 2.5 kg.
The state government is according top priority to Mission Bhagiratha, a flagship programme of the government to supply piped and safe drinking water to all households in the state.
That is why the government has decided to supply laptops to the field staff and higher officials for better coordination and speedy completion of the project.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had announced that he would not seek votes in the next Assembly election if he failed to complete Mission Bhagiratha.
