Telugu music director Chakri passed away on Monday morning after suffering a massive heart attack. He was 40. Born in 1974 in Mahabubabad, Telangana, Chakri began his film career as a music director with Puri Jagannadh’s “Bachi,” which hit screens in 2000. Since then, he has composed songs for around 85 films.
His popular albums include “Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi,” “Shivamani 9848022338,” “Idiot,” “Desamuduru,” “Devadasu,” “Maska” and “Simha” among others. He had last composed songs for the recently-released “Erra Bus,” starring Vishnu Manchu and Dasari Narayana Rao. Some of the films for which he has composed the songs are yet to make it to the screens.
Chakri has won the state government’s Nandi award for Balakrishna’s “Simha” and has also received the Filmfare award for best male playback singer (Telugu) for “Satyam” (2003).
The composer is survived by wife Sravani and his children. The sudden death of Chakri has shocked the Tollywood industry and several members of the film fraternity have expressed shock over his death.
