“With lot of confidence and faith, I declare that the strong foundation laid by the State government in the past three and half years would immensely help the State reach the destination of Bangaru Telangana,” the Governor said in his address on the occasion of the 69th Republic Day.

Recalling the formation of Telangana State in June, 2014, Narasimhan said TS became a reality because of people’s movement that took place within the broad framework of Constitutional provisions. “Exactly three years ago, I delivered the first Republic Day address from the very same dais, and I still remember that occasion when I expressed a fond desire that the TS government should overcome the many impediments and challenges it would face,” he said.

Observing that the State government had converted every disadvantageous situation to its advantage and planning strategies accordingly to march ahead, the Governor said the government was implementing a plethora of programmes and schemes for the welfare of poor, for development of agriculture sector, for strengthening the rural economy, for infrastructure development, for industrial growth, among other things. “The people are happy receiving the fruits of these programmes and schemes. The people are also contented and confident of a comfortable future,” he said.

The Governor pointed out that new State was not only performing well and certainly better than several other States in the country but was also winning accolades, awards and rewards both at the national and international levels. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself showered praise on Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya which are aimed at providing drinking and water for irrigation purposes,” he said.

“NITI Aayog described these programmes as role models, and Rajender Singh, popularly known as the ‘water man of India,’ was all praise for Mission Kakatiya programme during his visit to the State. He celebrated his birthday on the bund of Nekkonda tank in Warangal district where he termed Mission Kakatiya as a great programme,” he said.

Stating that Mission Bhagiratha had won the prestigious HUDCO award, Narasimhan said the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report had stated that TS stood first in the country in income growth. “The Centre declared that the State stood first in ‘Ease of Doing Business.’ In 2017, India Today adjudged the State as State of the States. New York’s Mercer declared Hyderabad as the best City in the world in 2016. CNBC TV 18 felicitated the State for its comprehensive development. The Telangana TRANSCO received the prestigious Centre Board of Irrigation and Power award for its outstanding performance in new and renewable energy in the country,” he said.

Works taken up on the Kaleshwaram project won appreciation from the Central Water Commission, experts, visiting representatives from other States and several other organizations, the Governor said, adding that the list of awards and appreciation received by the State was endless.

Stating that the youngest State was defining itself based on its needs, the Governor said it was properly utilizing its plus points and converting disadvantages into advantages. “It is assuring promise and protection to people’s lives, and paving the way for a brighter future. In other words, it is prospering itself and contributing to nation building. The state is making all efforts to realize its dream of Bangaru Telangana,” he said.

“If we observe three and half years of Telangana State’s governance and administrative objectives, it is clear that the government is working on the foundation of basic human values, overall welfare of all sections of the people particularly the downtrodden, coordinating between the technological development and needs of the people, removing social inequalities, protecting the environment, strengthening the rural economy, improving the urban infrastructure and finally marching towards improving the living standards of the people,” he said.

“I can say with conviction that this young State in the country is making rapid strides towards development and to be number one in every aspect. On this Republic day, let us all rededicate ourselves to protect the democratic values,” Narasimhan said.

The Governor, in his elaborate speech, spoke at length about the various developmental programmes and welfare schemes launched by the State government including the 24×7 power supply to the agriculture sector, irrigation projects, farm loan waiver, Farmers’ investment Support Scheme, Kalyana Laxmi and Shaadi Mubarak, Aasara pensions, 2BHK for the poor, subsidized sheep distribution to Yadavas and Kurumas and the various initiatives in the agriculture sector, among other programmes.
