Sheep Distribution: The Government of Telangana has decided to distribute sheep among the shepherd societies from June 2 2017, coinciding with the Telangana Formation Day.
About 4 lakh shepherd families were identified in the State and half of them would be provided sheep this year and the rest in next year.
Sheep Distribution From June 2
The sheep will be provided with 75 per cent subsidy to beneficiaries, said Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav. During a review meeting here on Monday, guidelines for the distribution of sheep at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore were finalised.

A three-member committee comprising MRO, MDO and a veterinary doctor is set up to identify beneficiaries.
The officials were directed to conduct a special drive to enrol the eligible members in the society from May 1 to 10. The beneficiaries will be selected through draw of lots from May 10 to 20 during village meetings.
The officials were also told to identify land for cultivation of grass in the forest and barren lands to feed 40 lakh sheep.
