Single Woman Pension Scheme launched in Telangana first in India: Telangana government on June 4th 2017 launched the single women pensions scheme across the state. Single women will be given 1,000 per month.
The single women pension scheme providing Rs 1,000 financial assistance per month to single women was launched across Telangana.
Pension sanction orders were handed over to beneficiaries by Telangana Deputy Chief Ministers Kadiyam Srihari and Mohammad Mahmood Ali, other Ministers and by MLAs constituency-wise at different functions organised across the state.
Scheme being implemented for the first time in the country and no other State has such a scheme: Harish Rao
Officials have identified 1,08,302 beneficiaries in 31 districts.

In the towns of Chinnakoduru and Nunganuru of Siddipet, irrigation minister T Harish Rao handed over pension papers to 836 women. He said, before bifurcation the then government had provided pension of only 200. However, the TRS government is giving 1,000 pension to 36 lakh beneficiaries.
Transport minister Mahendar Reddy launched the scheme at Medchal, Vikarabad, Keesara, Rajendranagar, Chevella, Parigi and Kodangal. At a function held at the Medchal collectorate, MP Malla Reddy, MLA Sudheera Reddy and district collector M V Reddy participated.
In RR district, 13,258 single women are being given pensions. “This is a scheme that will benefit unmarried women, joginis and divorced women”, the minister said.
