Formation of 14 New Districts in Telangana: The Telangana government has issued a notification announcing the introduction of Telangana District Formation Act, which is based on the Andhra Pradesh District Formation Act 1973. The new Act is said to speed up formation of new districts in Telangana.

A GO has been issued in this regard by principal secretary (Revenue) BR Meena on Thursday. The state government has set into motion several measures for the reorganisation of existing districts and formation of 14 new districts.
The new districts will come into being from March 1, 2016. While the announcement of the new districts will be made in January 2016, objections and suggestions will be received from the people and parties concerned in February 2016.
The state cabinet had approved the reorganisation of mandals, districts in September this year. A special committee had been formed at that time with the chief secretary as chairman.
The committee sought reports from each district collector regarding mandals and other logistics. Meanwhile, Chief Commissioner of Land Administration Raymond Peter submitted a comprehensive report on 24 districts which include the proposed 14 new districts to chief secretary Rajiv Sharma.
The report is yet to be submitted to the chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. After a thorough review, the CM is expected to give his approval in the third week of January.
