The CM is planning to perform Ayuta Maha Chandi Yagam from December 23 to 27 as a thanksgiving gesture to Goddess Chandi for granting the wish for a separate Telangana state.

It may be recalled that KCR had announced that he would conduct Ayuta Maha Chandi Yagam in December. It is very difficult to perform this yagam, as a large number of priests and ritviks are required. Moreover, it is difficult to perform such a yagam as it requires ‘Niyama Nishtalu’ (strict adherence to principles and complete devotion).

According to estimates, the Yagam would cost around Rs 3 crore. It is for the second time that Ayuta Maha Chandi Yagam is being performed in South India. Earlier, the Sringeri Peetham conducted the yagam in 2011.

Ayuta in Sanskrit means 10,000. During the Ayuta Maha Chandi Yagam, the priests will recite Durga Sapta Sati 10,000 times. As the Yagam will be performed for five days, Durga Sapta Sati will be recited 2,000 times a day.

KCR used to perform Chandi homams for realising the dream of separate Telangana in the past. But, the sixth in the series to be conducted in December will be a massive Yagam and intended for thanksgiving and the welfare of the state.

The CM KCR Ayuta Maha Chandi Yagam 2015  requires around 10 quintals of cow ghee every day during the five-day yaga. The cost of the ghee alone will be around Rs 20 lakh. The Yagam will also require 10 tonnes of Moduga (Butca frondosa) wood pieces as firewood (samidhalu) for sacrifice.

“We require 4,000 purohits and 1,500 ritviks for performing the yagam. We are bringing the ritviks from four states,” KCR said recently. The Chief Minister also made it clear that he would not use government money for the yagam and bear the expense on his own with the help of donors.

Around 30 acres of land of the farmhouse is being readied for the Yagam, which includes makeshift tents for guests and other arrangements. The levelling of the land also started on Friday.

KCR has invited President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to participate in the Yagam. Rao will also invite AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Chief Ministers of other states. Several pontiffs and other VIPs too would attend the Yagam. According to sources, it is proposed to serve food to around 30,000 visitors daily.
