PM Modi Launched Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna

08/09/2020 By admin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launched Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna on the birth anniversary of Jaiprakash Narain(JP). The BJP has always been respect towards JP. Three years ago LK Advani launched his last Rath Yatra against corruption on JP’s birth anniversary from his native village, Sitab diara in Bihar.

By launching this scheme on 11 October, Modi is paying huge tribute to Jaiprakash Narain(JP). More so, as it comes from a man who is leading the first non-Congress government, with a majority of his own.

Modi has been routinely picking up national icons outside the Nehru-Gandhi family for due felicitation and remembrance. He is associating their name with an issue, dear to him.

JP’s name is anathema to Congress but Modi has designed the Sansad Adarsh Gram project in a completely bi-partisan way, for all 750 Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, it will be very difficult to either, disassociate or overtly criticise the initiative.

Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna transformative

The scheme is unique and transformative as it has a holistic approach towards development. It envisages integrated development of the selected village across multiple areas such as agriculture, health, education, sanitation, environment, livelihoods etc.

Far beyond mere infrastructure development, SAGY aims at instilling certain values, such as people’s participation, Antyodaya, gender equality, dignity of women, social justice, spirit of community service, cleanliness, eco-friendliness, maintaining ecological balance, peace and harmony, mutual cooperation, self-reliance, local self government, transparency and accountability in public life, etc in the villages and their people so that they get transformed into models for others.

The MPs are the pivots this scheme will run on. Gram panchayat would be the basic unit for development. It will have a population of 3000-5000 in plain areas and 1000-3000 in hilly, tribal and difficult areas.

In districts where this unit size is not available, gram panchayats approximating the desirable population size may be chosen. If each MP adopts three villages, the scheme will be able to develop 2,379 gram panchayats over the next five years.

Narendra Modi accepted US President invitation

06/05/2014 By admin

PM Narendra Modi accepted US President Barack Obama’s invitation and is likely to have bilateral discussions in Washington in September this year, according to reports. It will potentially be the opening of a new chapter in India’s relationship with America.

Obama had invited Modi to the US when he called up Modi to congratulate him. Significantly, the meeting won’t happen on the sidelines of the United Nations general assembly in New York but in the form of a full-fledged bilateral summit in Washington.

The world’s two biggest democracies are yet to finalise the exact dates. According to reports, the United States has suggested September 30 but India has asked it to be advanced to September 26.

The Modi-Obama summit promises to be one of the foremost international events of the year and will overshadow Modi’s presence at UNGA, if he decides to go to New York too.
