Telangana can be major hub of business activity

09/13/2020 By admin

KodandaramTelangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) chairman Kodandaram said that the Telangana State had great potential for developing trade links with neighbouring States like Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh if it could work out a proper industrial and trade policy focusing on speedy development.

Releasing the ‘Development Map of Telangana’ published by Telangana Vidyavantula Vedika (TVV), Kodandaram said that the new State of Telangana was centrally located in the Indian peninsula and could be transformed into a major junction connecting north to south.

“The State being a strategically placed region can be the hub of business activity in the near future if it is properly connected with major cities of the country,” he stated. According to him, business can flourish if the State government links districts of Warangal, Karimnagar and Adilabad with neighbouring States of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. The government should prioritise construction of bridges over Godavari for free movement of goods. If that happens the State could merchandise the textiles to these States.

“Ramagundam and its neighbouring towns can be transformed into an industrial corridor if roads are developed. A lot of data has been gathered and maps have been developed about the region through Remote Sensing, the government should utilise it to develop the water bodies and lakes,” the TJAC chairman stated. TNGOs president G Deviprasad called upon the people of Telangana to face the challenges ahead like development and optimum usage of resources. The State should transform itself into a model State in the country, he added. Senior Journalist K Ramachandra Murthy described Telangana as the hub of several movements and hoped that the new government would ensure that the living standards of the people were improved.

He expressed optimism that the poverty and economic variations would be reduced. Murthy urged the civil society to actively involve itself in building the ‘Bangaru Telangana’. TVV president Mallepally Laxmaiah and BJP leader Surabhi Bhoomrao also spoke on the occasion.

Telangana people to vote for TRS

09/13/2020 By admin

K-Chandrasekhara-rao

KCR

Sounding the election bugle, Telangana Rashtra Samithi president, Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday directed Telangana people to vote for TRS nominees in the municipal, Assembly and Lok Sabha polls to ensure accelerated development of the new state.

“TRS is a secular party. You have seen the trouble we faced in Parliament recently as I was the lone MP. If we had 15 MPs, we would have called the shots at the Centre. Do not vote for MLA candidate of one party and MP of another. Vote for both Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidates. We should win both the seats to ensure a golden Telangana,” he said.

Mr Rao was addressing the first public meeting after formation of Telangana and announcement of election schedule at Gadwal in Mahbubnagar district, 200 km from here, where YSRC in-charge, Mr B. Krishnamohan Reddy, ex-municipal chairman, Mr Keshav, ex-MLA, Mr Gattu Bheemudu and others joined the TRS. He did not mention alliance with any party. Mr Rao promised to construct a new barrage across Krishna River at Gurramgadda, 8 km from Beechpally to provide irrigation to 14 lakh acres in Kollapur, Wanaparathy, Gadwal, Alampur, Nagarkurnool, Deverkadra and other Assembly segments in Mahbubnagar district. He said he would fight for Telangana’s share of irrigation to 87,500 acres from the controversial RDS project where the region presently gets water for only 30,000 acres.

“I will ensure we get our share of water. In 2002, when I undertook padayatra, Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy, Bhooma Nagi Reddy threatened to throw bombs,” he recalled.
The TRS chief is on a political recruitment spree, targeting YSRC and TD, especially in areas where the party does not have a stronghold like Mahbubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Khammam.

Asking people to shun faction politics in Gadwal, he announced Mr Krishnamohan Reddy as party candidate in Gadwal Assembly constituency, Mr Gattu Bheemudu for MLC while Mr Keshav or his nominee would fight the municipal polls.

“Politics must change in Gadwal. We should put an end to factionalism and strive to live in peace and harmony to ensure development,” he said. Taking a dig at both Congress and TD, he said people have seen their rule and they should now give a chance to Telangana Rashtra Samithi to ensure rapid development of Telangana.

He made a slew of promises including ST status for Valmiki community (presently BCs), regularisation of contract staff, rope Girijan thandas into panchayats, end migration of labourers from Mahbubnagar among others.

Hyderabad: Stating that there was no change in his party’s stance on the issue of division of Andhra Pradesh, senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu Tuesday said that they supported the formation of separate Telangana.

“There is no change in party’s stance. We are in support of forming separate Telangana. We also say that justice should be done to Seemandhra. It is the responsibility of the government to address the concerns of Seemandhra,” he said.

“BJP is the only party in Andhra Pradesh, a national party, which speaks in one voice in both Telangana and Seemandhra. The government should bring the Telangana bill to Parliament at the earliest,” the BJP leader said.

TRS Moves Privilege Motion Against CM Kirankumar

09/13/2020 By admin

Hyderabad : TRS today moved a privilege motion in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly against the Chief Minister for “misleading the House” and going back on his word by opposing the draft AP Re-organisation Bill-2013 that provides for the creation of a separate state of Telangana. TRS MLA K T Rama Rao moved the motion as the AP Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy rose to continue his speech on the draft Bill today afternoon. Recalling AP Chief Minister’s statement on the floor of the House on February 20, 2011, that he would implement the Government of India’s decision on the bifurcation issue, Rama Rao alleged that the chief minister has gone back on his promise.

“The Chief Minister repeatedly told this House that the bifurcation issue has to be decided by the Centre and that he would implement the decision, whatever it be. But, he has now openly opposed the draft Bill that provides for creation of a Telangana state. This amounts to misleading the House,” TRS member said and moved a privilege motion against the AP Chief Minister. Rama Rao also took exception to the AP CM quoting from the speeches of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and some other MPs in Parliament. “As per rules of the House, the Chief Minister can’t quote from the Parliament’s records without issuing a notice. This is a violation of rules,” he said.

The AP CM continued his address and reiterated that the Telangana region would suffer the most if Andhra Pradesh is bifurcated. “Telangana will become an upper riparian state and will have to forego a large share of river water. Currently, irrigation projects worth Rs 12,700 crore are underway in Telangana in the Krishna Basin. These projects, particularly those in Mahbubnagar and Nalgonda districts, will go waste,” AP CM Kiran Kumar said.

When people from the Seemaandhra region did not object to construction of the Pranahita-Chevella project, why are people in Telangana opposing the multi-purpose Polavaram major irrigation project on the river Godavari, Reddy questioned. Referring to power, the AP CM said that 175 million units would be required for lift irrigation schemes alone in the Telangana region during the coming four years, for which and investment of Rs 40,000 crore would be required. “There are no coal or gas linkages. How will power be produced and where will such massive investment come from if the state is bifurcated,” he asked. Power shortage as a whole in the Telangana region would increase to 50 per cent in the event of bifurcation, he said.

A whopping Rs 60,000 crore is required to complete various ongoing irrigation projects in Telangana, he said, adding unless the state remains united, we can’t complete these projects and do good to farmers. The AP CM also refuted claims of Telangana leaders that all coal from Singareni Collieries Company Ltd was being supplied to power projects in coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions. “Not a single tonne of coal from Singareni is coming to coastal Andhra. Rayalaseema gets 38 lakh tonnes per annum, while power plants in Telangana get about 185 lakh tonnes. About 57 per cent of coal generated in Singareni is being used in Telangana region alone. Coal allocation is made by the Centre,” the AP CM said. The CM’s address remained inconclusive since the House was adjourned for the day after it was reported that the deadline to return the draft Bill has been extended till January 30.

Formation of Telangana of necessity says Jayaprakash Narayan

09/13/2020 By admin

Formation of Telangana of necessity say Dr. JP

Formation of Telangana of necessity say Dr. JP

Lok Satta president and Andhra Pradesh legislator Jayaprakash Narayan Saturday said formation of a separate Telangana state was necessity but found fault with the manner in which the central government was going ahead.

Narayan who hails from the Andhra region but represents an assembly constituency in Hyderabad, unveiled a formula that he claimed addresses the concerns of all the three regions of the state. Participating in the debate on the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill in the assembly and later addressing party supporters and the media, he said the state had lost a decade because of bickering over Telangana.

“Now, with Telangana formation being on the verge, it is necessary for all political parties to focus their energies on ensuring justice to all the three regions in the state,” said JP, the lone legislator of his party.

He called for addressing revenue deficits of Seemandhra (Rayalaseema and Andhra) and firm and time-bound commitments for development of Telangana.

He sought special category status to Rayalaseema as it would be badly impacted in terms of revenue by the state’s bifurcation. He pointed out that while Hyderabad city had Rs.13,000 crore revenue surplus, Rayalaseema had Rs.7,000 crore deficit during 2012-13. The proposed pay revision this year would take the deficit to Rs.9,000 crore.

JP said the central government should fulfil its commitments for infrastructure, including setting up of premier educational institutes within a stipulated time frame. He also sought guaranteed commitment from the centre to complete the Polavaram irrigation project and the Ramayapatnam port.

Centre has not done justice to Telangana, says KCR

08/04/2020 By admin

Telangana State CM K Chandrasekhar Rao accused the Centre of not doing justice with the newly-formed Telangana state in the Union budget and said it has not got any thing new except a Horticulture University.

Expressing his disappointment with the budget, Rao said the horticulture issue was also mentioned in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act.

“There is nothing that the Centre has given afresh. We sought a lot for the development of Telangana from the Centre. But the Centre has not done justice to Telangana in the budget,” Rao was quoted as saying in a release from Chief Minister’s Office.

The Finance Minister merely stated that the Centre is committed to issues mentioned in the Reorganisation Act, but he has not given clarity on any issue, Rao said.

On the other hand, welcoming the budget, Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy said it is encouraging for infrastructure, agriculture and handicrafts.

The budget sought to put the economy, which derailed during UPA regime, back on track and it made an effort to give a push to all the sectors without burdening the common man, Reddy said in a release.

The Telangana BJP president hailed the Finance Minister statement to honour the promises made to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the AP Reorganisation Act.
