“The idea to come out with such a book originated during World Telugu Conference (WTC). To make the younger generation understand Telugu language and its inherent intricacies, Chief Minister, K Chandrashekhar Rao had directed us to launch this initiative,” says Mamidi Hari Krishna, Director, Department of Language and Culture.
After holding a series of discussions, experts from Department of Language and Culture decided the content for the handbook which has been designed to become an indispensable part of every household in the State.
State Council for Education Research and Training (SCERT) compiled the content while Department of Language and Culture monitored the content and layout, under the supervision of Desapathi Srinivas, OSD, and Chief Minister.
Designed in the form of Peddabala Siksha, the special book will also have information related to geographical conditions of the State. Department officials said that ‘Teeyanaina Telugu Telangana Velugu’ is not a Panchangam but will be a treasure trove of historical information on Telugu language.
“We have coordinated with other government departments and also sent the soft copies to all the districts where they will print around one lakh books. In the history of publications and printing, this is the first time where close to one crore books will be distributed for free,” says Mamidi Harikrishna.
