CHECK Municipal Elections Reservation List 2020 

The State Election Commission (SEC) is planning to hold municipal polls in 131 civic bodies including 10 municipal corporations in the third week of January 2020. However, the schedule will be released in the first week of January.

According to the news sources, the government is keen on concluding the municipal polls by the end of January i.e, before the budget session. A meeting with district collectors will be held soon over the election arrangements.

Let’s come to the point now, which is Telangana Municipal Elections 2020 Date. The Terms of the previous panchayat elections ended on July 2018. So, as per rules, it was the Duty of Telangana Government to conduct elections in 3 to 4 months.

The state government sought to complete the municipal election process by August 15 but it could not move forward as petitions were filed in the HC on reservation and separation of wards.

There are 128 municipalities and 13 municipal corporations in the state. Tenure of Greater Hyderabad, Greater Warangal and Greater Khammam is not yet completed. Elections will be held in only 10 corporations.

Meanwhile, in 128 municipalities, the tenure of Siddipet and Achchampet municipalities has not been completed. Five municipalities are unable to hold elections due to local issues. Elections will be held in 121 municipalities.

Currently, the civic bodies are being governed by special officers as its tenure ended in July last year. The elections are likely to be held between January 20 and January 25 since there are holidays for Sankranti in the second week of January.

The reservations of wards will also be finalised by the government soon based on the population of SC, ST and BC.
