Telangana plans to set up Aerospace Parks in Warangal

The Government of Telangana plans to set up Aerospace Parks in Warangal and Hyderabad, one is in Warangal and other one is Ibrahimpatnam Near Hyderabad.

Warangal Aerospace Parks come up in 500 acres.

Present in Telangana State have aerospace and defense special economic zone at Adibatla in Hyderabad where leading aviation players like Sikorsky and Pratt & Whitney have set up units.

According to K Pradeep Chandra, special chief secretary (industries), the government is in dialogue with multiple aerospace players including the Mahindra group.

“We have asked them (Mahindras) to consider setting up an aerospace facility in the state,” he said.

Speaking to mediapersons during the curtain raiser on Defence & Aerosupply-2014, he said the state was targeting to garner at least 20 per cent of India’s $20 billion aerospace and allied services market which is expected to touch $60 billion in the next 10 years.

Chandra said the government would unveil a new industrial policy soon with focus on 12 core sectors including aerospace and defence. It will have sector-specific incentives apart from the regular sops.

The Telangana state, preparing a new industrial policy, has identified aerospace as one of sectors with the potential to attract sizable investments and creating local employment. The core sector would get additional benefits and incentives along with those that would be extended to the industry in general, the official said.

There is untapped potential in aerospace and allied segments, currently billed at about $ 20 billion and expected to reach about $ 60 billion in a decade or so. The effort is to ensure that Telangana accounts for 15 to 20 per cent of this, Chandra said. Aerospace apart, Telangana has also identified precision engineering, automobiles, container, food processing, textile, pharma, green technologies, IT chemicals and plastics among others as core sectors, said Jayesh Ranjan, managing director of the Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation.
