Telangana State MPs demand for AIIMS. After Union Government gave a go ahead for setting up of AIIMS in Vijayawada in the new state of Andhra Pradesh, as mentioned in the AP Reorganization Act 2014, now Telangana state too demands for one such preeminent health institute in their state.
Telangana MPs under the leadership of Kalvakuntla Kavitha have met Union Health Minister Harshavardhan and submitted a petition demanding for the same. Harshavardhan apparently reacted in a positive way, said T-MPs.
Since Andhra Pradesh lost its capital Hyderabad to Telangana State, which is the major source of revenue, Centre has announced Sops to AP to persuade its people and to start everything from scratch. That’s the reason Centre is keenly considering the proposal to give Special Status to AP and financial package to backward areas of Rayalaseema and North Coastal Andhra.
Not long ago, KCR has demanded Special Status for Telangana and also ‘financial package’ for Telangana despite the very fact that Telangana budget is in surplus state. “Now if Telangana leaders come and ask for each and everything allotted to AP, it would be difficult for centre to allot one more,” say authorities in Delhi in a private conversation. Looks like, post-bifurcation issues are going to bring more head-aches to Centre.
