The Chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao has opined that every Assembly constituency in the state should have 10 residential schools to implement the state government’s ambitious KG to PG free education programme.
522 New Residential Schools Come up Soon in Telangana
Thus the total number of residential schools in state would go up to 1,190 from the current 668 schools. As many as 522 new residential schools would be established in the state. These schools would follow the education system of the Social Welfare schools.
Rao reviewed the functioning of education department with deputy chief minister and education minister Kadiyam Srihari and senior officials here on Wednesday and sought their suggestions on various measures to be implemented by the government.
He wanted all residential schools functioning under various departments to be brought under one umbrella for effective coordination. All residential schools should have uniformity in terms of functioning, budget, menu and mess charges given to students, he added.
Rao expressed dissatisfaction over food being served to hostel students “Buffet system should be introduced in all hostels,” he said.
On the KG to PG residential education, he said children should be under the protective care of parents until they reach class four. He instructed officials to ensure that schools with primary classes be established in villages itself.
In order to track the progress of the students after class 12, he told officials to work out a comprehensive plan to monitor and advise them on their career options thereafter.
Expressing concern over the large number of engineering students entering into petty jobs, Rao asked officials to take measures to strengthen technical education. He wanted the ITIs under the ambit of education department.
