Civic Information App in Telangana
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao held a review with Hyderabad police commissioner P Mahender Reddy and IT department officials to finalise the details to be included in the App.
The information pertaining to all the citizens would be available at one go through the App and it could be analysed during “critical” times, the Chief Minister said. The App has already been used on a trial basis by the Commercial Taxes department to identify tax evaders. It is said the App yielded good results in checking tax evasion.
KCR said that the previous government had failed to utilise modern technology to deliver good governance. “The previous government acted in a manner that they are jack of all trades and master of none”, he observed. Using modern technology would pave way for good governance, the Chief Minister opined.
Rao recalled how Google Earth Maps came in handy for the irrigation sector. Likewise, all the departments should use the new Apps for better development and implementation of government programmes, Rao said.
The Comprehensive Civic Information Bank would be useful in weeding out bogus beneficiaries in public distribution system. If the App is used in public distribution system (PDS), it would help the government save crores of rupees, the Chief Minister opined. If people are involved in governance, then they will cooperate with government, Rao said. and added that they will adjust if they believed that governance was good.
