The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has set its eyes on the elections to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao stating on Tuesday that they would win over 80 seats in the 150-seat civic body.
TRS Party will win 80 seats in GHMC Elections
“I have information that the TRS will win the GHMC election on its own as we will contest without any alliance,” Mr. Rao said celebrating the party’s win in Warangal with the party leaders here. “The Opposition parties have tried to create hurdles in every good programme planned by the government in the city with cynicism. They don’t want a clean Hussainsagar, a world-class cultural centre, new building for Osmania Hospital or a new premises for Secretariat,” he rued.
The Chief Minister stated that he would be staying more in districts and less in the State Capital once the elections to GHMC, by-election to Narayanakhed Assembly seat and budget session of the Assembly were over. “I know that gap has come between me and the party rank and file due to my pre-occupation in taking several administrative decisions including redesigning of irrigation projects to create irrigation potential to at least one crore acres of land in the State in three-four years. By staying closer to people, I will be in touch with party cadre,” Mr. Rao said.
He announced that regularisation of contract employees would be taken over the next three months and teachers’ recruitment would also be announced soon.
On the proposed ‘Ayuta Chandi Yagam’, he Rao said he had planned it before coming to power and no amount would be spent on it from the exchequer as donors had already come forward to bear expenses.
