The Telangana government has decided to recommend the names of around 26 persons from different fields for Padma Awards to the Centre this year.
Telangana Statehood ideologue late Prof Jayashankar is recommended for Padma Bhushan while interestingly late Prof. G. Rami Reddy, the first VC of IGNOU, is recommended for Padma Vibhushan.
Unconfirmed reports say Saina Nehwal too was recommended for Padma Bhushan.
Minister Harish Rao, Advisor to CM KV Ramana Chari and Chief Secretary Rajeev Sharma are working on the list to be sent to Centre. The CM asked them to try getting many Padma awards for the noted Telangana personalities, who have been ignored since many years.
The TS Govt has once again recommended Bharat Ratna for former prime minister, late P.V. Narasimha Rao.
Padmashri Award Recommended Names
Other notable personalities recommended for Padmashri include educationalist Chukka Ramaiah, artists Laxma Goud, Aley Laxman, Kapu Rajaiah, Thota Vaikutam, film maker B Narsing Rao, writers Ande Sri and Gorati Venkanna. Suddala Ashok Teja, ‘Ampasaiah’ Naveen, Mithali Raj are also recommended for Padma Shri.
