The Government of Telangana state on Monday issued the first industrial clearance for setting up of a mega project under the TSIPASS (Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and Self Certification System) Act that was passed by the State Assembly on November 27.
Industries Minister Jupally Krishna Rao handed over the composite certificate of clearance to VST Industries, represented by its senior officials, for setting up a tobacco processing unit at Toopran in Medak District.
The industry assured to employ 600 persons at the plant. It took 20 days to clear the project, the Minister said.
The TSIPASS is aimed at speeding up processing for issue of various licences, clearances and certificates to promote industry in the State.

Mr. Krishna Rao said that the Government had so far received 5,289 applications for setting up units at a cost of Rs.2,538 crore and employing 46,235 persons.
Most of the applications were for micro, small and medium enterprises. Another 3,067 applications received under the previous industrial policy in the combined State were also pending.
He also said a land pool of 2.5 lakh acres was created for handing over to entrepreneurs. The Government would issue identification numbers to all units, including existing ones and sick units, to keep a close watch on the needs of industry.
Mr. Rao admitted there would be power shortage for industry till December but the position would improve by the time the new industries went into commercial production next year.
