Wi-Fi enabled in Hyderabad by December. Hyderabad will become a First 4G Wi-Fi enabled city in India. by the end of the year with western pockets of the city getting access by September.
Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has asked officials to ensure that the entire state is Wi-Fi enabled in three phases.
The infrastructure would be set up at a cost of nearly Rs 4,100 crore. Wi-Fi access will be free for the first six months, according to Reliance Jio Infocomm.
Telangana CM met officials and representatives of Reliance Jio Infocomm and asked them to ensure 4G Wi-Fi coverage, at least in areas around Hitec City, where most IT companies are concentrated, by September, in time for the Mayors’ conference.
Reliance Jio Infocomm officials said that Hyderabad would need about 1,700 kms of OFC cables and that 500 kms of this had already been laid. Warangal would be the next city after Hyderabad to get 4G Wi-Fi services in the state.
