The Government of Telangana is taking a range of measures to ensure a safe environment for women in the state, with a special focus on Hyderabad, the capital city.
after came to power, CM K Chandrashekar Rao appointed a committee to study the current position and recommend measures on women safety.
The committee headed by senior IAS officer Poonam Malakondaiah had submitted its report recently. The state government immediately started implementing many of the recommendations of the committee.
Police department has formed 100 SHE teams to nab eve-teasers. These teams have already rounded up several people and slapped cases against them.
Hyderabad police are also ensuring all private cabs plying in the city are properly registered.
The police are affixing “I am Safe” stickers with details about Driver and Owner of the vehicle. The department aims to complete this exercize by Dec 31st.
Special SHE taxis driven by women drivers are also being launched soon. The first batch of 50 vehicles would be operational by Jan 26th
